Jesus tells us what true greatness is, work for all to be great. Jesus shows us the Servant Leader model, and the basis of our Catholic Social Teaching; the dignity of the human person. We become a great (Nation, Church, Society, Family, Person) by seeking not to make ourselves great compared with (and at the expense of) other, but we seek to make all great/first. But Jesus would never get elected, because this way is hard, it requires sacrifice and patience.

Why Didn't Jesus Just Tell Us He is God? (Mk 8:27-35) (24 OT)

Sunday Sep 16, 2018
In the Gospel for the 24th Sunday of Ordinary time, Jesus asks us "Who Do You Say I AM?" We all must answer this question, not only with words, but with our life. Many claim that in the Synoptic Gospels Jesus never claims to be God. This is not true. This homily, with help from a book by Brant Pitre called "The Case For Jesus", we can see Jesus does claim to be God. But why didn't he tell us more directly? Because we humans do not understand the ways of God, and Jesus had to first teach us what the Kindom of God really is about. How are you answering this important question: "Who Am I?"

23rd Sunday Ordinary Time Homily on Mark 7:31-37, Jesus heals a deaf and mute man. This healing really happened, but is also symbolic. It shows that Jesus is recreating humanity, whom wounded by original sin, could no longer hear God, and because of that we do not speak clearly God's will into being. This homily gives three suggestions of how to LISTEN to God (Look at the facts, Imagine possibilities, Seek advice beyond yourself, Turn inwards, Expect God's help, and Name your decision).
