Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church: Catholic Sunday Homilies

Jesus says we should Love God "With all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." What does this really look like? This homily contains some practical suggestions, or check, to see if you love God with your, mind, heart, strength, and soul. To love God is a miracle. It is a response to His love for us. But we can do things to invite this miracle into our lives.

-La tora o alianza antigua basada en el Amor a Dios , pero sin contenido .
-la nueva alianza basada en el amor a Dios y al prójimo , pero con el ejemplo de Jesús .
-El da la vida por nuestra salvación y para siempre , sin necesidad de renovarla .
- Su ejemplo fue pegar la ley con lo humano. 
-Jesús ama al hombre y mujer de carne y hueso y no por preceptos . 

How come so many of us see the world, and others, differently?  I wonder how God sees the world and others? Jesus saw something in Bartimaeus that others did not see... and Bartimaeus saw something in Jesus that no one else saw! This passage is one of the best to teach us how to pray, so that we may see the world and others as Jesus sees. 

- Israel el Pueblo elegido por Dios.
- Dios amo a Israel, como nos ama a nosotros. 
-  Bartimeas  es parte de del compromiso de Dios de siempre.
- Jesús muestra su compasión y amor a Bartimaeus.  
- el ciego por su fe se ha salvado.
- cuando Jesús pregunta, qué quieres que haga por ti, qué le vamos a contestar?

What does it really mean to say Jesus died for our sins? How does Jesus save us? Does God really demand suffering to forgive our sins? Why is there so much suffering if God is Loving? This homily shows a Catholic view of redemption, as reconcilliation. In Christ God breaks down the emnity between us and Him, in Christ, who in His one body, joins Himself to us, and us to Him.  If he did this for us, than we make him present when we enter into the suffering of others, and we serve the Christ suffering in others when we serve our Brothers and Sisters. 

This talk is not a typical homily. It is rather more of a "State of the Union" Address. As a newly assigned pastor, I've now been here for 3 months, and have had a chance to look around and see where I need to spend my energy in the first year.  We also are in the midst of a capital campaign that began under Fr. Joe's leadership before me.  In this talk, I lay out why I think we need to work together to complete this campaign, so it can be a first step in the greater building of God's Church I see that we are called to.  Thank You, Fr. This is an hour long workshop Fr. Paul gave on how to pray by meditating and journaling on the Gospels. It was the beginning session of our Monthly workshop, or labratory, where each month, people will share their experiences of prayer and ask questions. We will learn from others, and Fr. Paul will continue to share different ways to pray, and theory about prayer, especially from our Catholic Doctors of the Chruch, St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Avila. If you wish to join our Monthly "How to Pray" workshop, it might be helpful to listen to this recording of our first meeting. (But you do not have too! All are welcome.)

God has designed marriage as our primary means to sanctification. Created in the Image and Likeness of God, who is Love, we express that image in which we are created in the lifelong, faithful, covenant of married life, that is open to new life. Not everyone is called to marriage here on earth. Some marry, some remain single, and some become preists, religious sisters and brothers. However, all are first called to Marriage with Jesus our bridegroom. That love relationship is also open to new life, begetting new children of God, that is disciples of Jesus, and being so filled with God's love that it overflows from God, through us, to others. 

Matrimonio es Comunidad de Ayuda Mutua
_ la ley de Moisés , prescribía despedir a la mujer por cualquier causa.

_ Jesus quiere y defiende la igualdad y la ayuda mutua.
_ La relación matrimonial es un proyecto de Salvación , consagración ; dedicación.
_ Es poner a Dios en medio del matrimonio, es de igual dignidad.
_ Dios ha creado hombres y mujeres para que tengamos compañías en el camino de nuestra
salvación.
