Jesus presents the Golden rule, why and how to follow it.  "To those who hear".  This is perhaps some of the toughest teaching of Jesus in scripture. How we treat our enemies shows the world if we are Children of our Father in Heaven.

If you look at only this world, the Beatitudes make no sense. The critics of religion point this out to us, and will say religion is the opiate of the masses (Karl Marx). But for those who believe in the Resurrection, they not only make sense, but reveal how blessed we truly are. Homily for the 6th Sunday of Ordinary Time.

Are you looking for a good friend? Jesus wants to be your friend. He goes home to His home church, the Synagogue where he grew up, and reads from scripture. Of all the passages, he choose Isaiah 61 to describe what is His mission. He proclaims a Jubilee Year, at time of new beginning where debts are forgiven and captives set free. Do you feel a need for a new a Jubilee blessing? Then open your heart to the Holy Spirit, listen and PRAY!

God marries us in Christ Jesus, the bridegroom of the church. John's gospel uses the image of a marriage to show how God relates to us in the new covenant. But before we can fall in love with God, we must date Him, that is get to know him and spend time with Him.

Jesus was baptized so that we may share in the divine life he offers us by sharing in our humanity. We receive power to do good, cure the sick, cast out demons. But we also receive the greatest gift, and power, of the Holy Spirit, the Power of God's Love. Although we receive it in the sacraments of Baptism, and Eucharist, we open ourselves to it, and experience it's power sometimes not during the sacrament, but after in prayer. 

Jesus fue bautizado para instituir el sacramento en el que nos convertimos en hijos de Dios. Recibimos el poder del Espiritu Santo para hacer el bien, para curar los enfermos, y expulsar a los demonios. Sin embargo, el mayor poder es experimentar su amor.
