The Discipline - and Miracle - of Giving Thanks (Lk 17:11-19)

Even on a natural level, being positive, seeing the good, and giving thanks creates for us a better world. But sometimes, on a natural level, we struggle to find things to be grateful for. From a faith perspective, we are part of the Greatest Love Story, the Greatest Miracle that God has done, and wants to do in our hearts through the Death, Resurrection of Jesus, that is still present for us in the Eucharist; Thanksgiving.  Over time, we are healed and find a Joy and Gratitude the world cannot give and the world cannot take away!

We rarely feel like we have enough faith to do what we are called to do. Each time it feels like a leap.  We are called to cry out Jesus increase my faith, and then leap!! Remembering when God caught us in the past, and hearing the stories of others, helps us take that leap today.

Jesus' parable of the rich man and Lazarus challenge us to see who're we are overlooking in our life, and those who need our help. We can sometimes not see the suffering of others because we justify it, this parable challenges to respond to human suffering, and to see with God's eyes. But it is easy to become overwhelmed by all the human suffering too, so let us help at least one, act locally, and think globally. To God it matters, cause he knows the poor by name.

How to Convert Worldly Dollars into Heavenly Currency: The Right Use of Money (Lk 16:1-13) (25 OT)

Jesus tells a very strange parable, seemingly condoning a dishonesty in the workplace. But really he is praising the resourcefulness of a person being fired as he scrambles to provide for his future. Jesus is encouraging us to be as resourceful in His business as we often are in our worldly business. Our money says "In God we Trust." It is written by our Treasury department, but I like to think of it as written by the surgeon general, as a warning to use it for the right purpose: God's Kingdom.
