It is Amazing the Jesus was Amazed at the lack of Faith he encountered in His hometown of Nazareth. Elsewhere people were Amazed at Jesus' mighty deeds. Is it perhaps because they were too familiar with Jesus? How about us? Having grown up in a Christian Culture, perhaps in the church, do we too take for granted the work of God is Jesus? Are we too familiar with our teachings and Jesus to let them really Amaze us? Faith is a basing our life on Jesus, this takes a miracle, a mighty deed from Jesus. It can happen if we make room for that miracle. Take time today to be Amazed at what God has done for us, while we were still sinners, in Christ Jesus.

Why does not God hear my prayer and command the storms of my life to be still? The disciples in the boat had to awaken Jesus, is Jesus sleeping? Are there other reasons why he might not answer me and help end these troubled times we are in? This homily shows the three reasons why we may not seem to think Jesus is present or that he cares about us. 1) Sometimes our storms are caused by our own doing; we need to be the answer to our prayer. 2) Sometimes we've fallen away from God giving evil a foothold. 3) Sometimes, like Job, we get no answer, but in faith we must trust He is doing something through our suffering that we may not yet understand.

Pray, Hope and Don't Worry! (Mk 4:26-34)

Sometimes we work too hard! Sometimes we carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. Jesus is the savior, not us. We are called to do our Best and let God do the Rest. We are called to be faithful, not success. As St. Padre Pio says; "Pray, Hope and Don't Worry." God can write straight with crooked lines, God can make all things work for the good of the Kingdom (Rm 8:28), the coming of the Kingdom is in God's hands; we do our best and let God do the rest!

To the modern mind, not steeped in the Scripture and Tradition of the Church, the Catholic belief in the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist is so hard to believe, because it does not make sense. But to even the modern mind, when aware of the Scripture and Tradition of the Church, it is easier to accept Jesus' True Presence precisely because it DOES make so much sense!
