Pray for the Grace To Recognize What God Has Done for Us. (Lk 15:1-32)

It can be easy to fall into the trap of comparing ourselves with others and feeling that we are not as blessed, or that we work harder, or be jealous of them, or angry at them. But when this happens it’s helpful to recognize these feelings are just a sign that we are not fully aware of all that God has really blessed us with in Christ Jesus. Praying for the grace to recognize what God has done for us helps us to see our lives, the lives of others, in the world much differently.

Our Children Need Us, and God Needs Us (Lk 14:25-33)

How can Jesus really ask us to give up everything to follow him? And if he really does ask that, why do people do it? Well it is explainable; what God gives us in return is so much greater than anything in this world. Also listen to a the story of a man who died and encountered the infinite love of God‘s embrace. 

Proud and Humble Can Go Together (Lk 14:1, 7-14)

The world today sometimes gets humility wrong. It is possible to be humble and proud confident and successful, if we properly understand humility. Being humble is to recognize we are God‘s creation, and our strength comes from Him and all we do serves Him and gives Him glory. The more humble we become the more God works through us and the greater good we can do!

Exchange Your Earthly Dollars for Heavenly Dollars (Lk 12:13-21)

Qoheleth in the first reading muses on what good is it to labor hard to amass possessions in this life and only leave them to somebody who did not work for them. Jesus goes further and encourages us to labor for what is valuable  in God’s sight and be wealthy in heavenly dollars, or what matters to God.

How to Pray with Martha and Mary (Lk 10:38-42)

This is a great passage to pray by putting yourself in the position of Martha and Mary. Can you relate to Martha too busy to feel human, feeling like a slave of all these obligations, resentful that others don’t appreciate what she’s doing or help? We can also be Mary in the passage, talk to God about what we are doing as Martha, and if God is really calling us to do it choose it in freedom, and do it for Jesus.

I Want to Offer You a New Job: The Best Job!(Lk 10:1-12,17-20)

I want to offer you a job with much power and influence, a job that is really not that hard, a job for an international organization, a job with benefits that are out of this world. This is the job Jesus offers all of us today in the Gospel. The harvest is abundant but laborers are few, Jesus is offering us all a job, he needs you. Will you accept His Job offer?
