Jesus is using the bad leaders of his day to teach what a good leader in the church, and the world should be. But today’s Gospel is more than simply Jesus giving us business principles, He is pleading for our help, for all of us to live up to our baptismal call to be good leaders, to be salt and leaven and to bring His light to the world.

Jesus says, give to Caesar what is Caesars and to God what is God’s. Since we are made in the image and likeness of God, we belong to Him, the Mass is an opportunity for us to give ourselves to God through Jesus Christ. He makes of us a perfect offering to God the Father.

The kingdom of God is likened to a wedding feast, it’s fullness is only in heaven, but even now we’re called to live in the peace and joy of God in the midst of a troubled world. We don’t feel worthy always, and we don’t feel the love the joy and the peace always, but come to the feast as you are, and let it transform you, God will be our strength and our peace and our joy.
