Can science find a cure for death? If you read the latest news, some scientists think they can! Well I've got news for them, there already is a cure for death! It came 2,000 years ago! Why not take the cure for death; Baptism, so we can not only live forever, but even now have a bolder more full life as we live unafraid of anything because of Jesus Christ.
Why does not God hear my prayer and command the storms of my life to be still? The disciples in the boat had to awaken Jesus, is Jesus sleeping? Are there other reasons why he might not answer me and help end these troubled times we are in? This homily shows the three reasons why we may not seem to think Jesus is present or that he cares about us. 1) Sometimes our storms are caused by our own doing; we need to be the answer to our prayer. 2) Sometimes we've fallen away from God giving evil a foothold. 3) Sometimes, like Job, we get no answer, but in faith we must trust He is doing something through our suffering that we may not yet understand.
Sometimes we work too hard! Sometimes we carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. Jesus is the savior, not us. We are called to do our Best and let God do the Rest. We are called to be faithful, not success. As St. Padre Pio says; "Pray, Hope and Don't Worry." God can write straight with crooked lines, God can make all things work for the good of the Kingdom (Rm 8:28), the coming of the Kingdom is in God's hands; we do our best and let God do the rest!
The Source and Summit of Our Faith: Jesus or the Eucharist? His True Presence or only Symbolic? (Mk 14:12-16, 22-26) (10 OT)
To the modern mind, not steeped in the Scripture and Tradition of the Church, the Catholic belief in the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist is so hard to believe, because it does not make sense. But to even the modern mind, when aware of the Scripture and Tradition of the Church, it is easier to accept Jesus' True Presence precisely because it DOES make so much sense!
